Start with the product and the wearer
Name the product you want to make and who it is for. A club kit, an entry-level glove range and a retail training collection each raise different questions. Include the intended activity, fit direction and target customer. If you have selected a design from the catalogue, include its name or article number.
Give the quantity some structure
Share your approximate total and, where possible, a breakdown by style, colour and size. A total of 200 pieces across several designs is a different brief from 200 of one design. If the breakdown is still open, say so and ask which combinations are practical.
Make the visual direction clear
Include artwork, reference images and colour references. Explain what you like about each reference: the silhouette, print placement, finish or colour combination. Supply original logo files where available. Confirm that you have permission to use any branding you provide.
Describe materials and fit
If you know the fabric, weight, composition or glove construction you need, include it. Otherwise describe the intended feel and use. A reference garment, measurement chart or technical pack can reduce ambiguity. Flag any details that are essential and any that are flexible.
Include branding and packing
Think beyond the main logo. Neck labels, care labels, size labels, hangtags, individual bags and carton requirements can affect the project. Put them in the brief early so the quotation reflects the finished product you expect to receive.
Share the destination and timing
Provide the delivery country, postal code and the date you need the goods. Distinguish a launch date from the date the goods need to arrive. Ask for sampling, production and shipping to be considered separately. Confirm what is included in the quotation before committing.
